Signage is posted around construction areas to help motorists navigate changes in traffic patterns.

From staff reports
As summer construction projects progress across Ohio University's Athens campus, motorists are asked to be aware of changes in traffic patterns in the southeastern portion of campus and follow posted detours where directed.
The affected areas include:
South Green Drive near Oxbow Trail: Drivers will experience intermittent lane restrictions as crews work on construction of the new Multipurpose Pavilion. Marty Paulins, director of Transportation and Parking Services, says flaggers have been used to help direct traffic. A dip in the pavement near the intersection of Oxbow Trail is also causing motorists to slow as they travel over that section of road, so use caution.
University Terrace: A portion of this road, from Park Place to Race Street, remains closed to northbound (uphill) traffic for emergency repairs. Northbound traffic is being rerouted to Race Street onto Stewart Street and then to East Union Street (up Jefferson Hill). University Terrace remains open to southbound (downhill) traffic.
Wolfe Street / Race Street: A large tree will be transplanted from its present location near parking lot 82 to a new location south of Race Street. In order to maintain traffic flow in the area, Wolfe Street has been temporarily re-opened. During the day on Friday, June 28, various sections of Wolfe and Race Streets will need to be closed at various times to accommodate the moving of the tree. Road closed and detour signage will be in place, and Ohio University Police officers will be on hand to assist in directing traffic. Wolfe Street will close permanently as part of Phase 1 of the University's Housing Development plan after the tree has been moved.
For motorists who want to avoid the affected areas, Paulins suggests the following route to access upper campus:
Follow South Green Drive past University Terrace, continuing along the back side of South Green residence halls.
Turn left near the New Life Assembly to continue on South Green Drive.
Turn left on North McKinley Avenue.
Turn right onto the small access road between North McKinley Avenue and Stewart Street.
Turn right onto Stewart Street.
Turn left onto East Union Street (traveling up Jefferson Hill) to connect with upper campus near Memorial Auditorium.
