Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding announced that Deborah Moon Shaffer has been appointed as the senior associate vice president (SAVP) for Finance and Administration.
Shaffer was selected for the position after a national search. Her appointment will begin on July 15.
Shaffer's background includes extensive financial and executive level experience from positions in healthcare, higher education consulting, and over eight years as Carnegie Mellon University's vice president for finance and chief financial officer. Initially, Shaffer will oversee Finance and Human Resources and assist in the implementation of the Service Alignment Initiative.
"We are fortunate that Deb has decided to join Ohio University," said Golding. "Her experience, the caliber of her work, and her commitment to facilitating the academic mission of the university impressed those who met her during the interview process. I'm confident that Deb's leadership will be integral to our ability to define and meet key expectations and responsibilities."
In accepting the SAVP position Shaffer indicated that she was "thrilled at the opportunity to work with the team at Ohio University" and looks forward to meeting with individuals across the university in an effort to understand their interests and needs.
