On Thursday, March 21, the McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems hosts its annual ITS Day with keynote speaker Linda Kenworthy of Intel Americas.
This year’s event is held during Communication Week in the Baker University Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Open to the public, the event gives all Ohio University students the opportunity to hear presentations and learn from various professionals and industry leaders.
This year’s keynote speaker Linda Kenworthy, Business Development Manager of Intel Americas, works with Connect Ohio to provide Internet and computer services to all of Ohio, including lower income areas. Her partners with leaders in Ohio’s education, government and healthcare sectors to help them improve productivity and design comprehensive programs that promote 21st century teaching and
learning. She advises educators and others on how to design technology to engage students and inspire teachers.
In addition to Kenworthy’s presentation, Connect Ohio will be hosting their 2013 Appalachian Broadband Review during ITS Day. The Appalachian Broadband Review provides students and educators a chance to learn about the broadband and telecommunications challenges faced by the region surrounding Ohio University and other areas of Appalachia.
In addition to Connect Ohio and Intel Americas, speakers from major telecom companies such as Verizon, Sprint and AT&T will discuss the importance of information and telecommunication systems in the business world.
Following these appearances will be a professional case study competition for teams of ITS graduating seniors. The Accenture Challenge, now in its sixth year, presents ITS students with a realistic technology design and sales project. ITS alumni who are consultants and executives at Accenture identify the most outstanding project proposal and present certificates of achievement to the winners.
The day will conclude with the Annual ITS Awards Banquet.

The J. Warren McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems is one of five schools in the Scripps College of Communication, which was recently named a Center of Excellence in Culture and Societal Transformation for the state of Ohio, the only college of communication to receive such a designation.
