Compass features a Q&A with the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month. Each month, Classified Senate selects an employee to acknowledge and recognize as someone who is setting high standards for excellence and innovation. The monthly feature, titled "Great Job," will provide a glimpse into the honoree's life on and off campus.
How surprised were you to win the Employee of the Month award?
Extremely surprised and honored.
What is your job title and how long have you worked at it?
I'm an administrative associate and I've been with Ohio University for eight years and the Alumni Office for almost three years.
What are the most enjoyable things about your job?
I have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people because I work at the Alumni Association, but I also deal with customers of the Bobcat Store. The people that I work with make my job enjoyable. They are great!
What is your hometown and where do you live now?
My hometown is Lyons, Ohio, and now I live in Albany, Ohio.
What was the last good book you read?
The Chew (it's a both a cookbook and a biography about the hosts of the show).
What things in life are the most important to you?
My family, friends and happiness.
Where is your favorite vacation destination and why?
The Upper Peninsula in Michigan. We have a family home there and it's complete relaxation. I can totally disconnect. There are also some great tourist spots to check out if I want to do something.
What are your hobbies?
I like to fish and ride 4-wheelers.
What are your favorite TV shows?
Big Bang Theory and any competitive cooking show.
What is your favorite type of music?
I like a wide variety of music. It depends what mood I'm in.
What is the next big event you can't wait for and why?
My new niece is arriving in July. Family is very important to me and I love being an aunt.
Who are your favorite celebrities and why?
None, most of them are overrated.
Who are the most annoying celebrities to you and why?
The Kardashians, they haven't done anything to deserve their celebrity. Plus they are not exactly good role models.
