Deb Gearhart, vice provost for e-learning and strategic partnerships for Ohio University, has been elected to the steering committee of WCET, a national membership organization focused on technology-enhanced teaching and learning in higher education. Gearhart’s term began at WCET’s annual meeting in San Antonio in November 2012.
Gearhart has more than 26 years of experience in distance and online learning, including stints at Troy University, Dakota State University, and Penn State. She joined Ohio University in July 2012. Gearhart is co-author of Designing and Developing Web-Based Instruction and edited Cases on Distance Delivery and Learning Outcomes: Emerging Trends and Programs. She is a master reviewer and trainer for Quality Matters and has done consulting, training, and program review for distance education programs.
She has been involved with WCET for 16 years. In addition to her selection for the steering committee, Gearhart is part of the organizations’ Academic Integrity Common Interest Group and administration group. She has presented at the annual meeting as well as other WCET events on topics such as state authorization of online learning and federal regulations.
