For the past several years, University Communications and Marketing has created and posted an electronic holiday greeting on behalf of the University. Starting this year, though, UCM is offering a selection of cards for faculty, staff and students to use.
"This collection is a gift from UCM to the University community," said Renea Morris, executive director of UCM.
It's also a gift for student employees in the creative services group, who created the media under the direction of Art Director Stacey Stewart.
Some of the greetings are images—campus beauty shots, Athens bricks, typography—while others are videos and animations. Any of the e-cards can be added to a Web site or sent by email.
"We felt that with the students on staff, we could begin building a bank of greetings," Stewart said.
There are no dates on them, so they can be reused even as UCM adds to the collection over the years.
One of the student designs has already been reserved by President Roderick J. McDavis to send as his and Mrs. McDavis's official holiday greeting. Another will be posted on the University's home page from Dec. 10, 2012, through Jan. 2, 2013. The others are open to anyone—faculty, staff, students and alumni—anytime at www.ohio.edu/ucm/greetings.
