Bobcats at the Ballpark: A look inside Cincinnati’s largest alumni event to date

As part of The Promise Lives Campaign, the Ohio University Alumni Association (OUAA) hosted its largest alumni event for the Cincinnati and Dayton areas.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, more than 225 alumni and friends met at the Great American Ballpark in downtown Cincinnati to celebrate together with Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis and two special alumni guests: Fox Sports Broadcaster Thom Brennaman and WLWT-TV Sports Director Ken Broo.

Brennaman earned his Bachelor of Specialized Studies (BSS) from Ohio University's University College in Communication Studies and Political Science.

Steve and Traci Ellis, who co-chair the Cincinnati-area Regional Campaign Committee, developed the event in conjunction with a committee of Southwest Ohio Bobcats. The reception was held in the Fox Sports Ohio Champions Club with a private night at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum. Following the reception, the group hosted a game watch as OHIO football took on Ball State.

"The Regional Committee did an incredible planning job," said Connie Romine, interim executive director of the OUAA. "Everybody worked extremely hard to make the event a true success. Alumni from around the state rallied – bringing together a record number of Southwest Ohio Bobcats to reengage with Ohio University."

Have a look at some the evening's most memorable moments.

One of the highlights of the evening was when President Roderick J. McDavis conferred the degree of alumnus Thom Brennaman."Thom couldn't attend in June," said Romine. "So we took commencement to him. It was a special moment, indeed."
