From staff reports
The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education will host its sixth-annual student silent art auction at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the McCracken Hall Gallery.
The event will feature original artwork from the students of Federal Hocking Local School District, with proceeds being split evenly between the student who produced the work and his or her school's art program.
The public is invited to bid on their favorite art pieces while enjoying complimentary food and beverages. Winning bids will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
Patton College Dean Renée A. Middleton began the art exhibition in order to recognize the talent and enthusiasm of local teachers and students. The auction aims to support the efforts of local education agencies by encouraging and highlighting the creative abilities and talents of the student artist.
Past schools that have participated include The Plains, Miller High School, Athens High School, Morgan County's South Elementary and Middle Schools, Meigs Middle School, Chauncey, Chieftain, Hocking Hills and Morrison Elementary. Last year's event raised more than $1,500.
