From staff reports
Ohio University will be hosting a football game at Peden Stadium on Thursday Nov. 1. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN at 6 p.m.
Given the earlier than usual start time, some modifications in daily parking operations on campus will be necessary. Your patience is appreciated as we try to serve our students, faculty, and staff alongside our visitors. Here is a Q&A concerning the special event parking situation:
What parking lots will be affected?
Peden Stadium, Walter Hall, and the Convocation Center are the affected lots. The Convocation Center and Walter Hall lots are for faculty/staff parking and the Peden lot is for commuter students, faculty, and staff.
Will faculty, staff, and students be allowed to park in these lots during the day?
Yes. However, the Peden, Walter Hall, and Convocation lots will be closing on a staggered basis (schedule is listed below). Individuals who park in these lots prior to the times listed below will not be towed or cited as long as their vehicles have a valid parking permit for the lot.
Peden: 2:30 p.m.
Walter: 3:00 p.m.
Convocation: 4:00 p.m.
How will handicapped parking spaces be affected?
Handicapped parking will not be affected by the lot closures. Students, faculty, and staff with handicapped permits can park in designated handicapped spaces in the Peden, Walter Hall, and the Convocation Center lots even after the lots have closed.
What if I arrive on campus after the time that a lot has closed?
Commuter students can use the normal commuter lots (51, 52,79, 93 and 104) on east/south side of campus. Another option is to park in any of the parking lots located on the Ridges. The campus transit system (CATS) red loop will be providing extended service from the Ridges lots to main campus until 6:30 p.m.
Faculty and staff should use areas not affected by game day parking on the east/south side of campus in lots 41, 79, 90, 93, and 104.
Alternatively, before 4:30 p.m., faculty and staff can park in the Clippinger lots and lots on west campus (109, 111, 125, 143, 145, 146, 147, and 154). However, by 4:30 p.m., normal game day pay-to-park operations will be in effect in these lots.
Individuals who park their cars in the Clippinger and West Campus lots before 4:30 p.m. will not need to move their vehicles. Vehicles will not be cited or towed as long as they display a valid parking permit for the lot. However, anyone who enters one of these lots after 4:30 p.m. will be charged the regular football game parking fee.
