OHIO reaffirms Title IX and Equal Employment for faculty and staff

On Tuesday, Ohio University Chief Human Resource Officer Linda Lonsinger sent an email to all faculty and staff reaffirming the University's support of Title IX and Equal Employment and Educational Opportunity for all employees.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The beginning of a new academic year is a good time to recall our responsibilities in maintaining the University as an institution that is fair, inclusive and civil.  Aiding our efforts to achieve a sound educational and work environment are a set of three important obligations:  

  • Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex with respect to any education program or any terms, conditions or benefits of employment at an institution that receives federal assistance.

  • University Policy #40.011, “Equal Employment and Educational Opportunity,” commits to non-discrimination in terms of educational or employment opportunities because of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, veteran status, disability or sexual orientation.

  • University Policy #03.004, “Harassment,” states that educational programs and employment opportunities will be equitably available to students and employees without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, gender identity or expression, mental or physical disability or veteran status.  

Please help the University maintain its commitment to Title IX and Policies #40.001 and #03.004. The University as an educational institution, and as an employer, supports, encourages and values an environment that does not discriminate.  Your treatment of employees, co-workers and students matters.  As always, we remain available to address concerns of the faculty, staff and management of the University.
