The Communication Sciences and Disorders program is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year. To honor this important milestone, the College of Health Sciences and Professions is planning an exciting weekend of activities for alumni, faculty and students.
The celebration will kick off on Friday, Sept. 14, with a colloquium at 4 p.m. in Baker University Center Theater. Alumna Laura M. Justice, professor at the School of Teaching and Learning at Ohio State University, will deliver a keynote address titled “Evolution of a Field: A Retrospective and Prospective on Communication Sciences and Disorders.”
The colloquium will be followed a cocktail hour in Baker Center Lounge from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and then an informal gathering at Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities include a “Walk Down Memory Lane” at Grover Center from 10 a.m. – noon, a luncheon at Walter Hall Rotunda from noon – 1 p.m., and a number of social and networking events at Grover Center from 1 – 4 p.m.
There will be a cocktail hour with light hors d’oeuvres on the fourth floor of Baker Center at 6 p.m. The day will culminate with a “Dinner and Dance Celebrating 75 years of Distinction” at Baker Center Ballroom at 7 p.m. featuring entertainment and dance music by Rock’n Reggie.
Standard registration is $60.00 for the two-day celebration; registration for current OHIO Communication and Sciences and Disorders graduate and undergraduate students is $30.00. The registration deadline is August 15.
