Ohio University mourns the loss of junior student Stephen Rung Meno, 21, who was found deceased in his Palmer Street residence on Sunday evening.
According to an Athens City Police Department press release, no suspicious elements were uncovered and no foul play is suspected in this incident.
Rung Meno, a native of Westlake, Ohio, was a finance and accounting major in the College of Business and a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
Gabe Defta, one of the founding fathers of Pi Kappa Phi's Ohio University chapter, said that he has nothing but fond memories of Rung Meno.
"Steve was one of the happiest friends I had the pleasure of meeting," Defta said. "I don't think I've ever saw him without a smile on his face. I am going miss him dearly."
Pi Kappa Phi member Dan King also shared his thoughts on the tragedy.
"Steve was a selfless brother who always had a contagious smile on his face," King said. "No one saw this coming. He will be deeply missed by all of us. We would like to thank the university, Greek Life, and the rest of the student body for the immense amount of compassion and support that they have shown us throughout this tragic experience."
Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Ryan Lombardi also spoke about the unfortunate death.
"I was deeply saddened to learn of Stephen's passing," Lombardi said. "My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. I encourage all in the Bobcat family to lean on each other during this difficult time."
Hugh Sherman, dean of the College of Business, expressed his thoughts on behalf of the college.
"We are deeply saddened by this loss," Sherman said. "Stephen was a part of the College of Business and our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends."

There will be a funeral Mass for Stephen Rung Meno Friday June 8 at St. Angela Merici Church, located at 20970 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park, Ohio, at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call at Chambers Funeral Home, located at 29150 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, Thursday, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the St. Ignatius High School Scholarship Fund, 1911 W. 30th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
