From staff reports
The Combat Veterans Club and University College will host the "Eyes of Freedom: Lima Company Memorial Traveling Tour," April 12-14 in the Baker University Center in the fifth floor atrium.
The art memorial will be displayed in the atrium from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
An opening reception will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Baker University Center Theatre followed by a 7 p.m. screening of the 2006 documentary, "Combat Diary: The Marines of Lima Company." An open discussion will follow the screening. All of the events are free and open to the public.
The memorial depicts the 23 fallen Marines from Lima Company, one of the hardest hit units in Operation Iraqi Freedom. It also represents a remembrance honoring all who have served in the U.S. armed services.
The eyes in the memorial reflect the thousands of people who have served, fought, and died while defending the nation's freedom.
The memorial, which was created with the help of the families of the fallen and returned Marines of Lima Company, was unveiled in the Ohio State House Rotunda in 2008.
