From staff reports
On Thursday, Ohio University Culinary Services sent an email to all Athens campus faculty, staff and students.
It came to our attention earlier today that a student employee exhibited symptoms (diarrhea and vomiting) of a foodborne bacteria. At this time we have received confirmation that the student's tests for the potential bacteria have come back negative. Additionally, the origination of the suspected bacteria was not from a campus facility. As a precautionary measure, pending the test results, we pulled a limited number of items from our venues. Culinary Services has a comprehensive quality assurance/hazard analysis and critical points program to ensure that all of our products meet the highest standards of quality and freshness.
As we learn of more details we will share them with the community. As a general rule, please remember to wash your hands frequently, especially after using the restroom and before eating or drinking. While the illness being reported by the student is not life-threatening, those that exhibit similar symptoms are encouraged to seek medical attention.
