Students who missed out on the opportunity to see their professors sweat last quarter at Campus Recreation's Ping 101 event are in luck.
Ping 101–Round 2, a bring-your-class-or-professor to Ping, faculty and staff appreciation event, will be held Jan. 23-28 with all of the same great incentives offered in the fall.
The Ping Center offers many opportunities for outside-of-the-classroom learning and relationship building, and we encourage you to take advantage of them. Faculty can challenge their students to a game of horse on the basketball courts or a game of racquetball.
Research in higher education suggests that interactions between faculty and students outside of the classroom enhances the undergraduate experience and leads to greater persistence, academic achievement and intellectual and personal growth. Campus Recreation wants to offer staff an opportunity to build relationships with their students outside of class time.
Ping 101 features free admission for faculty and staff all week and a special "Family Day" on Saturday, Jan. 28. Faculty who teach a class in Ping during the week will have each of their students entered into a drawing to win $300 in books.
Faculty can call 740-593-9908 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a space or for help adapting their class to incorporate recreation and every participating faculty member will receive a coffee mug gift pack.
