From staff reports
Fifty alumni chapter and society leaders from across the country will be back on campus, going to educational sessions for alumni volunteers and sharing rooms in the residence halls during the annual Alumni Leaders Conference on May 12-14.
Alumni leaders will interact with students on the Student Alumni Board (SAB), administrative staff from the University and the 10-member Leaders Advisory Council. This face-to-face interaction is central to the weekend goal: networking.
The 10-member Leaders Advisory Council, consisting of five chapter and five society volunteers, fosters communication between alumni networks and the Alumni Association, and promotes best practices among current and emerging alumni networks.
A celebration dinner and awards ceremony will be held Friday evening to acknowledge the alumni network‘s efforts. Awards include Outstanding Chapter and Society, Most Innovative Chapter and Society Program, and Best Reorganized Chapter and Society; awards are also given for best events in Community Service, Philanthropy, Alumni/Student Networking and Alumni Networking categories.
Other session topics will include Leaders 101 and 201, fundraising for scholarships, best practices for events and recruiting volunteers, using social media, campaign discussion and creating letter-writing campaigns to promote admissions to OHIO.
The time together is also to thank all volunteers for the hard work they do for the Ohio University Alumni Association. The weekend fun culminates with dinner and a murder mystery.
