Undergraduate Admissions is hosting STEM Day Friday for prospective students interested in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medical fields.
Held in conjunction with the 2011 Student Research and Creative Activity Expo and the Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Engineering Day, this one-day program is a special opportunity for students and families to discover the promise of OHIO in each of the STEM fields.
Undergraduate Admissions is expecting 75 students and their families and more than 350 students being bused from area schools for STEM Day this year, though the other campus events will bring more than 800 guests to campus.
Senior Associate Director Kevin Witham said STEM Day is part of the Ohio STEM Learning Network and is a chance for OHIO to showcase the quality of student work and research.
"I think that prospective students and families will recognize the excellence OHIO has to offer when they see the breadth and depth of student research presented at the expo," Witham said.
In addition to attending the Student Research and Creative Activity Expo, STEM Day participants will also have the opportunity to attend a Campus Resource Fair, an OHIO overview, a guided walking tour, an admissions overview, and specific academic information sessions to fit students' interests.
"Visitors will be able to gain a better understanding of OHIO's academic promise and organizations available for OHIO students," Witham said.
