On Monday, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis sent an e-mail to the entire OHIO community announcing the final two candidates for the position of vice president for university advancement and the when open forums would be.
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
The search committee for the position of Ohio University's vice president for advancement and president and CEO of the Ohio University Foundation has completed the initial round of candidate interviews and has scheduled open forums for two finalists on April 7 and April 14.
Both forums will take place in the Baker University Center Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room.
Lori Lewis (PDF) is an Ohio University alumna and currently the vice president of advancement at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, a position she has held since 2005. Prior, from 2002-2005, she served as the assistant dean and director of development for the College of Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, commonly called Virginia Tech. From 1994-2002, Lewis worked for Ohio University, first as an adjunct faculty member in what was then the College of Education (1994-1998), then as assistant dean for development and alumni affairs in the former College of Health and Human Services (1997-1999), and, finally, as the assistant dean for development in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology (1999-2002). Prior to her career with Ohio University, Lewis worked for many years in special education in Athens County.
Bryan Benchoff (PDF) began his career working with nonprofit organizations before moving into university advancement. He is currently the president and CEO of the University of South Dakota Foundation, a position he has held since 2008. From 1990-2007, Benchoff served in a variety of positions with the West Virginia University Foundation. Positions included assistant director of development (1990-1992), director of development (1992-1997), senior director of development for major gifts (1997-2001), assistant campaign director (1997-2004), assistant vice president for constituency development (2001-2004), and associate vice president for development (2004-2007). Earlier in his career, Benchoff worked in development and fundraising for the American Red Cross, Southern Pennsylvania Chapter, the Arthritis Foundation, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter and the American Heart Association.
This position is responsible for leading the University's $450 million The Promise Lives capital campaign and all aspects of University Advancement, which includes leadership of The Ohio University Foundation, Alumni Affairs and Development.
