The Ohio University Performing Arts Series brings Chinese acrobatic production "Cirque Shanghai: Bai Xi" to Athens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
Dating back more than 2,000 years to the Han Dynasty, the phrase "Bai Xi" translates to "a hundred amazing acts." The performance, which is appropriately known as "The Show of a Hundred Wonders," includes seemingly limitless acrobatic feats including amazing displays of physical strength, incredible feats of balance, fast-paced contemporary dance and fantastical martial arts routines. These same talents were shared in the Chinese imperial courts, and have been passed down and enhanced through the years.
The breathtaking costumes and spectacular artistry of the 18 performers will wow audiences. The Chicago Sun Times calls the exhibition "brilliant and expertly polished." It is a show the whole
family is sure to enjoy.
This event is part of the OHIO Performing Art Series. Tickets start at $12. Call 740-593-1780 or visit www.Ohio.edu/PerformingArts to purchase tickets.
