From staff reports
Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis announced in an e-mail to faculty and staff today that Howard Lipman, vice president for advancement and president and CEO of the Ohio University Foundation, would be leaving the University.
McDavis wrote that Lipman has accepted the position of senior vice president for university advancement and president and CEO of the Florida International University (FIU) Foundation, effective Dec. 1.” Lipman previously served FIU from 2002 until 2006.
In the interim, McDavis will fulfill the roles previously held by Lipman.
“Effective Dec. 1, 2010, I will lead University Advancement in an interim capacity without receiving added compensation during the national search for Howard's successor,” McDavis wrote in his e-mail.
In the coming weeks, McDavis will invite Ohio University faculty, staff, alumni, Board of Trustees and Foundation Board to serve as members of a search committee that will identify candidates for this important role. He also will select a search firm to aid the search committee in its work.
“We wish Howard and his family success, health and happiness as they return to Florida,” said McDavis. “We salute his success over the past four years in continuing the legacy of donor support for Ohio University. The transformative gifts OHIO has received during Howard’s tenure here are lifting up students, faculty and the University as a whole.”
