The Ohio University Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology, which was established in 1935, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
As part of the celebration, the following events will be held the week of Oct. 11 to coincide with Homecoming activities.
Energy expert and former Russ College Visiting Professor William Shepherd will give a free public lecture from 12:10 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in Academic & Research Center 102. In his talk titled "Have We Got the Energy?", the emeritus professor of electrical engineering at the University of Bradford in England will review fossil energy (coal, oil, and natural gas), discuss nuclear options (fission and fusion), and offer an appraisal of some renewables such as wind and solar energy.
The Russ College will hold a research poster fair featuring projects from all departments and research units from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15. Engineering Ambassadors also will give tours of the Academic & Research Center.
On Saturday, Oct. 16, the Russ College will hold a 75th anniversary tailgate barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pepsi TailGreat Park across from the Convocation Center. Guests must register at www.ohioalumnireception.org by Oct. 11.
