Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis was recently appointed to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Committee on Academic Performance.
McDavis joined the committee to ensure that Ohio University, along with other NCAA Division I members, maintains high academic standards for student-athletes.
"We need to ensure that the student portion of the student-athlete experience is the best and most rewarding it can possibly be," McDavis said. "As part of this committee, I will be able to work with other Division I schools to accomplish and maintain that goal."
The committee oversees the NCAA's Academic Performance Program, which is dedicated to providing student athletes with exemplary educational and intercollegiate athletics experiences, environments that recognize and support academic mission of member institutions and enhanced ability to earn a four-year degree.
