Rob Riggle will perform stand-up comedy at Ohio University on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. His performance at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium will include improvisational comedy.
Riggle appeared as a correspondent on “The Daily Show” between 2006 and 2008. He has performed stand-up comedy on Comedy Central and is a former cast member of “Saturday Night Live.” Stand-up comedy has been a recent endeavor of Riggle’s ever since he started touring comedy clubs and colleges in 2006.
As an actor and comedian, Riggle has emerged as one of the funniest pieces of any comedy sketch, film or television show. Some of his most memorable roles on television have been Congressman John Van Huesen on Fox’s “Arrested Development” and Captain Jack on NBC’s “The Office.” He also portrayed several characters on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and has done voice-overs for animated television shows such as “American Dad!” and “The Cleveland Show.”
Most notably, Riggle may be best known for his role as Officer Franklin from “The Hangover,” who teaches schoolchildren how to use a stun gun on all three characters. Riggle has also appeared in popular films such as “Talladega Nights,” “Step Brothers” and “The Other Guys.”
What most people probably don’t know about Riggle is that he is also a United States Marine Corps officer. He joined the Marines with the hopes of becoming a pilot shortly before leaving to work on his career in comedy.
