Classified Senate continues to be the voice for classified staff across all of Ohio University. We are actively participating in budget talks through standing committees, departmental committees and Budget Planning Council (BPC). We will continue to bring concerns of classified staff and our unique perspective to the table. Throughout this process, we will continue to offer our mentoring services to those affected by budget cuts, transfers and our workload shifting.
Classified Senate continues to work on our goals of providing opportunities for professional development. We will be looking for our second group to begin our Career Development Program. The first class is enjoying great success and reporting on their great experiences. We have partnered with Human Resources to provide lunch and learn. Most of these have been centered around benefits offered on campus that we as staff can take advantage of. We have something planned each month so watch your e-mail.
Senate has established some great ties with the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS). We have been successful in bringing them to campus several times. There will be more opportunities very soon. Along with OPERS, we are bringing in financial advisors to help everyone cope through these tough economic times.
We continue some fun projects too. These are very near and dear to our hearts. Our Employee of the Month program has been very successful in recognizing hard working and talented classified employees across campus. Please consider nominating someone you see doing an outstanding job. Senate is also hard at work raising money for our scholarships for students. We sell two types of coverlets, pillows, totes, Bobcat dolls, earrings and charms. Please visit our website www.ohio.edu/csen/ to see the full lineup of items and all we do.
Come to a meeting; we would love to hear from you.
Chair, Classified Senate
