More than 40 Ohio University alumni will return to campus this week to reconnect with their alma mater during the second annual Alumni College event.
Alumni College, July 15-18, is a four-day event where alumni can return to take classes from some of OHIO’s esteemed professors while reconnecting to Athens and reliving the memories of their college days.
This year’s Alumni College will feature 12 classes focusing on everything from southeast Ohio’s edible plants to Wine, Women and Song in Athens, Greece.
The event, which is being held in conjunction with the Class of 1960 Golden Reunion, also gives alumni the chance to tour the campus, attend socials and dinners and view theater and film productions. There also will be a couple of featured productions for alumni to enjoy over the weekend.
"Trailerpark" is a feature-length film based on a Russell Banks short story collection that was entirely produced by students in the School of Media Arts and Studies. The Ohio Valley Summer Theater will present "Into the Woods," a Tony Award-winning musical that intertwines the plots of several fairy tales.
On Saturday, there will also be a special "OH I dO" ceremony at 6:04 p.m. (1804 military time) where alumni can renew their vows to that special someone. Alumni College ends Sunday afternoon with a graduation ceremony and a “Class of 2010” photograph.
