Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis will sign a proclamation reaffirming the university's commitment to the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Baker University Center Theater.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the act being signed into law. Following the signing, a panel of students and faculty members will engage the audience in a discussion about the climate for individuals with disabilities on the university's campus.
According to the Ohio Legal Rights Service website, The Proclamation of Recommitment is a national campaign commemorating the 20th anniversary of the signing of the ADA and a recommitment to the vision and spirit of the law – full inclusion of people with disabilities into American life.
The event is sponsored by Student Senate and the Office of Disability Services and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
