Robin Oliver named as new Vice President for University Communications and Marketing
Today, Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis named Ms. Robin Oliver as Ohio University’s first Vice President for University Communications and Marketing. Ms. Oliver, who has nearly 20 years of experience and comes to Ohio University from Western Carolina University, will officially lead OHIO’s Office of University Communications and Marketing team beginning July 22, 2019.

High temperatures predicted for Alden Library, hours of operation adjusted
Alden Library will not have air conditioning capabilities May 6-17, because of a planned steam outage on campus. Due to predicted high temperatures the week of May 6-11, the Library will be open during the adjusted timeframe of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

New Ohio University study profiles the changing face of suicide within the state
According to a new study released by The Ohio Alliance for Innovation in Population Health (The Alliance), suicide is increasingly comprised of individuals both young and old, with suicide rates rising more than 36 percent for those ages 20 to 29 and approximately 57 percent for those aged 60 or older in the last 10 years.

Libraries’ web site to migrate to Web CMS
The Libraries’ website under the new system maintains its current functionality, but aligns the presentation of content with web pages across the University, facilitating user navigation and discovery through the University’s site search mechanisms. The official switch will happen this summer.

Changes in enrollment have resulted in modifications for the equine studies program. Current students can complete the face-to-face option over the 2019-20 academic year or transition to the online option. Six OHIO students, alumni selected as Fulbright Students
Six Ohio University students and alumni — Max Annable, Francesca Cappetta, Chase Goodwin, Tracy Kondrit, Parker Smith, and Emily Trzeciak — have been selected as recipients for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Each will spend 8-12 months working to promote international educational and cultural exchange in host countries across Asia, Europe, and South America. Two other students, Logan Cull and Jenna Grams, were named alternates to their programs.

Inez Stanley-Linscott, who has worked at Ohio University since 1992, has announced her retirement, effective June 28, 2019. Inez has been an administrative specialist at Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) for almost 10 years.

Ohio University’s Cutler Scholars Program has selected 16 community-engaged leaders for the class of 2023. The incoming Scholars have been accepted into six of Ohio University’s colleges, with majors ranging from communication sciences and disorders to philosophy to computer science. The Cutler Scholars Program provides financial support, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities to help students develop into leaders for the common good.

City of Dublin transfers 27.701 acres identified in economic development agreement to advance OHIO’s academic mission
The City of Dublin has transferred 27.7 acres to Ohio University in support of the University’s teaching, research and service mission. The land, valued at $4.2 million and referred to as “subarea 2” in the Dublin Framework Plan, provides flexibility for growth as University goals and opportunities evolve. With this transfer, the University now owns 85.6 acres on the Dublin campus.
