OU Press Author to Speak at Smithsonian

Ohio University Press author Thomas Mickey will be giving a talk at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. this Sunday. His talk will be on the influence of nineteenth-century seed catalogs in marketing a particular landscaping style, the English Garden, to Americans of that era, and how those efforts influenced today's landscape. This is the subject of his book, "America's Romance with the English Garden," published by Ohio University Press this past May.

Mickey was a Smithsonian fellow and did much of his research for the book in the Institute's Archives of American Gardens. America's Romance with the English Garden is an illustrated book now in its second printing. It has been well-reviewed in a variety of general interest and gardening publications and Mickey has been a frequent talk show guest and event speaker. Last week the book was mentioned in a column in the New York Times.

Ohio University Press's website has a complete description of the book, along with links to reviews, interviews, the author's blog, and a free sample section of the book:
