Elizabeth Aleksander, BM Performance '03, is the newly appointed Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Tennessee in Martin. She received her Doctorate in performance at the University of Nebraskay-Lincoln and her Master's in performance at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where she was a graduate teaching assistant. While at Ohio University, Elizabeth played in Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, was treasurer of Sigma Alpha Iota, and was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda. Elizabeth designed this website.

Benjamin Bergstrand, BM '98 Music Therapy, is a second-grade teacher for Altura Elementary School in Aurora, CO. He is also a graduate student at the University of Colorado (School of Education) at Boulder. His ME will be in Literacy Instruction.

Andrea Bitunjac, MM '01 Performance, is currently a private clarinet instructor and public school in Minneapolis, MN, where she resides with her husband Bill, MM '01 Art. While at Ohio University, she received graduate assistantships in both performance and theory. Andrea was also runner-up for the university-wide "Outstanding Graduate Student Award" and was twice a finalist for the Ohio University Student Soloist Competition. In the summer of 2001, she attended the Domaine Forget Festival in Canada, where she performed in master classes given by Robert Spring, Philippe Cuper, and Marie Picard. Andrea received the BME in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Amber Byers, BME '03 Music Education, is a fifth and sixth grade band director at Prince George County Public Schools in Maryland. While at Ohio University, she participated in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band and was section leader of the Marching 110 Clarinets. She also was an active participant in MENC.

Krista Carter has completed her classes at Ohio University and will soon began a music therapy internship.

Colin Celek, BM '12 Music Education, is student teaching at Mason High School in Cincinnati, OH.

Ying Chang received her Master's degree in clarinet performance in December 2002. She is currently pursuing a DMA at the University of Arizona, where she is a graduate assistant to Dr. Jerry Kirkbride. While at Ohio University, Ying was a graduate teaching assistant and winner of the 2002 OU Student Soloist Competition. Along with fellow clarinetist Weilun He, Ying performed Ponchielli's Il Convegno, accompanied by the OU Symphony Orchestra. A native of Taichung, Taiwan, she was also a finalist in the Taiwan National Clarinet Competition.

Melissa Clifton, BME '01 Music Education, got married in the summer of 2001.

Shanna DeJoseph, BM '11 Music Therapy, is completing her clinical internship at Florida State Hospital. While at Ohio University she presented a Performance Honors Recital and played principal clarinet in Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. She is currently training for a triathlon.

Mark Fort, formerly a PhD student in Comparative Arts at Ohio University, received his MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching--K-12 Music) at Marshall University in Huntington, WV in May 2004. His graduate assistantship at Marshall involved teaching clarinet, music history, music appreciation, and woodwind techniques. He is now teaching at Pomeroy Elementary School in Pasadena, TX.

Lauren Freedman, BM '06 Music Theory, completed a year of AmeriCorps service with City Year New Hampshire. She is currently living in Vermont and works for the Student Conservation Association in Public Relations and Communications. She remains actively involved in music and volunteers with local music festivals and organizations in New England.

Lisa Furman, BME '99 Music Education, is a general music instructor in Loveland Primary and Elementary School in Cincinnati, where she also maintains a private clarinet studio.

Andrew Gross, MM '14 Performance and Composition, is a member of the clarinet section of the United States Army Field Band. While at Ohio University, he was thrice a finalist in the Student Soloist Competition and was a graduate teaching assistant.

Laura Hernandez, BME '01 Music Education, was a student teacher/band assistant at Gallia High School in Gallipolis, OH in the fall of 2001.

Weilun He, Performance Certificate, '02, and Master of Music, Performance/Pedagogy, '04 is professor of clarinet at Shanghai Normal University in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. While at Ohio University, he received a prestigious Trisolini Fellowship, one of five named graduate fellowships university-wide. Weilun won the Ohio University 2002 Student Soloist Competition and won second prize in the International Clarinet Association's 2003 Orchestral Excerpts Competition.

Heather Jean, MM '98 Music Performance, is a general music instructor at Plattin and Telegraph Elementary Schools in St Louis, MO.

Sarah Kovalan, BM '06 Music Therapy, is doing a music therapy internship in Rochester, NY. While at Ohio University, she received the Ohio Federation of Music Scholarship and was elected to Pi Kappa Lambda.

Iesha Leonard, MM '09 Instrumental Conducting, is band director at Charolottsville High School in Charlottsville, VA, one of the premier high schools in the state. While at Ohio University, she played Eb clarinet in Wind Ensemble and Bb clarinet in Symphony Orchestra and was a graduate assistant to the bands. Iesha was selected to participate in the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble, which performed at Carnegie Hall in May 2009.

Elliot Long, BM '06 Music Performance, is an Americorps VISTA with the Portland Housing Authority in Portland, Maine. He is coordinating an after school study center in public housing for refugee and immigrant youth. He also started an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing program at the University of Southern Maine. While at Ohio University he was principal clarinetist of Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and was elected to Pi Kappa Lambda.

Elyse Lykins, BM '12 Music Therapy, is a music therapy intern at Wildwood School in Schenectady, NY.

Brian McLemore, BM '11 Music Performance, is the middle school band director at Oaklawn Language Academy in the Carlotte-Mecklenburg School District. His wife Emily, whom he married in July 2011, is a middle school band director at Grier MIddle School in the Gaston County School System. While at Ohio University, Brian played principal clarinet in Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and was twice a finalist for the Student Soloist Competition. A graduate assistant, he taught Clarinet Methods and Introductory Music Theory for nonmajors.

Angela Opell, MM '03 Music Performance, is completing her Master's degree in Ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She also teaches general music at Explore! Creative Learning Center in Raleigh, NC. While at Ohio University, Angela won the 2003 Student Soloist Competition and received the Award for Outstanding Graduate Student in Performance. She also received Honorable Mention in the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Artist Competition, State Division for Woodwinds. Angela also founded Klezalachia, an Athens Klezmer Band.

Kimberly Roof, MM '06 Instrumental Conducting, is a band director at Baldwin High School in Long Island, NY.

Ben Silber, MM '07 Music Performance, is currently head band director at Cache Public Schools in Cache, OK. He will be marrying OU alum Kelly Haley in 2009.

Lacey Stokes, BM '99 Music Performance, is a member of the USAF Heritage of America Band at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. She plays clarinet in the Concert Band and Irish button accordion in the Heritage Aire Celtic Ensemble. Lacey received her Master's in Performance in May 2001 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was a graduate teaching assistant of Dr. Diane Cawein.

Katy Swaysland, BM '03 Music Therapy and Psychology, is a music therapist and superviser of Unit 14 at Florida State Hospital in Marianna, FL. Katy is an an alum of the Ohio University Honor Band. While at OU, she participated in Symphonic Band and was an active member of the Music Therapy Club.

Erin Upson, MM '07 Performance/Pedagogy, is currently a middle school band director in the Greenville County School District in upstate New York near Albany. She is also adjunct professor of clarinet at the College of St. Rose in Albany, where she teaches clarinet to music majors and minors.

Jessica Vansteenburg, MM '05 Music Performance, is currently a doctoral student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Elizabeth Wagner, BM '06 Music Therapy, has worked as a music therapist at Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida and Anthony Wayne Services in Indiana. She currently works for AmeriServe International of Arizona as a Day Program Manager, where she shares her love of music with clients with developmental disabilities, who periodically perform in the community. Elizabeth is also a member of the Wickenburg Community Orchestra, playing clarinet.

Rebecca Wagner, BM '14 Music Education, is a general music teacher for grades 3-6 at Leadville Intermediate School in Leadville, CO. She married Robert Ward, BM '14 in Saxophone Performance at Ohio University in June 2014.

Jocelyn Wilson, BME '01 Music Education, is a general music teacher for Mason City Schools. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Music Education at Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Elizabeth Wynn, MM '09 Music Performance, is a K-3 music teacher at Granville Elementary School in Granville, OH. While at Ohio University, she played principal clarinet in Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra and was twice a finalist in the Student Soloist Competition. In recognition of her outstanding work, she was given the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Star Award.

Angela Zirille (Lingo), MM '01 Instrumental Conducting, is Middle School Band Director of Johnstown-Monroe Middle School in Johnstown, OH. She resides in Pataskala with her husband Marc and their two childreon, Anthony and Frieda. While at Ohio University, she was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Ohio University Marching 110 and Varsity Bands, an Assistant Conductor for the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, and the Co-founder of the Ohio University Clarinet Choir. She was the recipient of the Ohio University Graduate Associate Outstanding Teaching Award (2000-2001) and the Ronald P. Socciarelli Service Award (2001).
