Department of Social Work

The Social Work program at Ohio University offers a wide variety of degree programs, including an on-campus bachelor’s degree in social work and on-campus and 100% online versions of its master of social work degree. Each degree uniquely prepares students to serve as social workers in the rural community and to obtain state licensure as a social worker.

The bachelor's degree in social work (BSW) provides a generalist focus while the master's of social work (MSW) degree has a rural focus and prepares social workers to work in clinical areas. Both programs provide extensive field experience enabling students to put into practice what they learn in the classroom. Faculty providing instruction in the programs are all accomplished social workers and well connected in the community.
