Graduation
ATTENTION: Students need to apply for graduation at the beginning of the semester in which they plan to finish all required coursework. Applying for graduation after the stated deadlines set by the Office of the University Registrar will result in a late fee. The current late fee assessment is $100 (subject to change). Please visit the University Registrar website for detailed information.
Graduation is a time to celebrate what you have accomplished. However, graduation is not automatic. To graduate, all students — even those who do not plan to walk in the commencement ceremony — must apply online through the Office of the University Registrar. The graduation application will be available the first day of the term in your My OHIO Student Center. The application must be submitted no later than the published graduation deadlines for the semester in which graduation is planned. There is an application fee for graduation.
Your diploma will be mailed to you approximately eight weeks after graduation to the address listed on your application.
If you apply for graduation and it is determined after review of your course records that you haven't met the requirements to graduate, you will be notified. Students who are denied graduation must reapply by the posted deadlines for the semester in which they will complete their requirements. Nursing Pin
The official Ohio University Bachelor of Science in Nursing pin is the common bond of present and future OHIO School of Nursing graduates. It is available for purchase online exclusively from College Bookstore.
Commencement
Students may graduate at the end of any semester as long as they complete the requirements. Commencement ceremonies take place at the conclusion of fall and spring semesters.
There is not a Commencement exercise for students graduating at the conclusion of summer semester, but these students can opt to participate in the ceremony at the end of fall semester.
If you wish to walk in Commencement, you need to order your cap and gown and let the Commencement office know you plan to participate. You can find the information at www.ohio.edu/commencement.
Pursuing a Graduate Degree After Your BSN
Ohio University offers professional graduate programs in nursing for students who want to continue their education and earn a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
The Ohio University School of Nursing graduate programs are available in a blended format, which combines online coursework and exams with in-person residencies. The MSN program offers the Family Nurse Practitioner specialization and the Nurse Educator specialization. The DNP program offers a BSN-to-DNP program and an MSN-to-DNP program with a focus on advanced clinical practice or nurse executive.
