OHIO student leaders prepare for Bobcat Student Orientation

This summer Bobcat Student Orientation will include virtual and in-person events and options for students and their families. 

The orientation experience has been expanded to include three phases. Phase 1 includes pre-orientation modules that will be released to students in May. The live event in June with an option of attending virtually or in-person is the second phase. Programs have been shortened to one day to help ensure the safety of participants with regard to COVID-19 protocols. Finally, Phase 3 will take place in July as a post-orientation module experience.

Although Hayden Spurgeon plans to pursue her master’s degree in social work at the University of Houston, her ultimate goal is to someday return to Athens and Ohio University to pursue her professional career.

Spurgeon is graduating a year early with dual degrees in social work and women’s gender and sexuality as well as a minor in psychology. It’s safe to say Spurgeon made the most of her time at OHIO — and that OHIO equally had a positive, lasting effect on her.

Several CHSP programs recognized nationally in latest U.S. News & World Report rankings

Four graduate programs in the College of Health Sciences and Professions (CHSP) have earned national recognition within the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

The Speech-Language Pathology program moved tied for 45th in the nation in the 2020 rankings. Audiology earned a tie for 46th, Physical Therapy tied for 57th and Social Work is ranked 96th overall.
