Each summer the Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions (CHSP) and Columbus State Community College (CSCC) host a mini-health professions academy for rising ninth and tenth grade students in Central Ohio. This year’s academy will be held June 21-22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Ohio University Dublin campus. Registration is limited to 40 students and there is no cost to attend. Attendees will receive a T-shirt, and lunch and snacks will be provided both days.
Students are exposed to a variety of careers in the health professions along with the many educational pathway options. The academy includes panel discussions with healthcare professionals, interactive hands-on activities and a tour of our labs including the anatomy lab, simulation lab and standardized patient exam rooms. Student activities take place in the same clinical simulation labs where our OHIO and CSCC students are trained.
Students will participate in the following activities:
Registration is on a first-come first-served basis, and space is limited to 40 participants. Students who are the first in their family to attend college and are from underrepresented minority populations are encouraged to apply.
