Dywayne Nicely is the husband of Tara Nicely and the father of Lyla Nicely. A native of Huntington, WV, he received his B.S. and M.A. in mathematics from Marshall University in Huntington, WV and his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Baylor University in Waco, TX. His main area of expertise is in Numerical Linear Algebra with an emphasis on Deflated Restarted Iterative Methods. Recently, his research interests have branched out into Mathematics Education with a focus on problem-solving, and, in particular, how reading strategies can help students successfully solve mathematical word problems. He is a 2012-13 recipient of Ohio University’s Baker Fund Award. Dywayne has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has given many presentations at national and regional mathematics conferences. He feels his greatest contribution is helping all of his students, especially those of Ohio University-Chillicothe, realize their potential and complete their college degrees.
