2019 News Anthony Dixon Scores 1000th Career Point
January 27, 2019 : Dixon reaches 1000th career point milestone

Ohio University Chillicothe student-athlete, Anthony Dixon Jr., accomplished a personal milestone by scoring his 1000th career point on Jan. 16, 2019 in a game against Miami University – Hamilton. The competitive game, with the score remaining close throughout, resulted in a 91-86 victory for the men’s basketball team.

Dixon, a Columbus native, graduated from Westerville – South High School in 2013. He plans on completing his bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies in the spring of 2020.

Dixon began his basketball career at OHIO Chillicothe in the fall 0f 2017 and managed to accomplish his scoring milestone in two seasons.

When asked about his accomplishment, Dixon noted, “This accomplishment means a lot to me, because anyone who knew me in high school knows I hardly ever shot the ball” Dixon discussed that he went through a lot of growth as a player to reach his achievement.

Dixon also spoke on the importance of his support system in achieving his goal.

“First, I want to thank my teammates and Coach McCray because without their encouragement I would not be in the position I am today. I also want to thank my family for always supporting and encouraging me in everything I do.” To close his remarks, Dixon commented on his Amateur Athletic Union experience. “My AAU coach Jason Benton and his family definitely deserve some recognition as well, as they saw the talent in me before I did.”

Congratulations, Anthony!
