2017 News 21st Presidentiaql Inauguration
October 09, 2017 : Investiture of new Ohio University President

 

In celebration of the inauguration of Ohio University’s 21st President, Ohio University Chillicothe has planned a week full of campus activities for the week of Monday, October 16, 2017 through Saturday, October 21, 2017.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in the festivities honoring President M. Duane Nellis both in person and on social media using the hashtags #OHIOprez21 and #OUCPride.

 

All week OUC will be collecting canned foods and non-perishable items for local food banks.  Collection boxes will be available in the lobbies of all OUC buildings for donations.

 

Monday, October 16, 2017 OUC library director Brandi Weaver will celebrate Our Past, Present, and Future with a display of OUC’s history at the Quinn Library.

 

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 is OHIO FOR OHIO Day.  Campus members are encouraged to wear their “greens and jeans” or other Ohio University attire, take pictures, and post on social media with the appropriate hashtags.

 

Wednesday, October 18, 2017 is Investiture/Legacy Day.  OUC will host a live streaming of President Nellis’ investiture ceremony at 2pm in Bennett Hall room 134.  A selfie station will be outside the auditorium.  Everyone is encouraged to take a selfie and post it to social media.  Tag @OHIOPrez21 to let President Nellis know your support.

 

Thursday, October 19, 2017 is Sustainability Day with a tree planting at noon.  The tree, a Maple, will be planted near the sidewalk between Bennett Hall and the Shoemaker Center.  A ceremonial plaque will be placed to commemorate this week in OHIO history.

 

Friday, October 20, 2017 is A Day of Service.  The week long canned food drive will commence and all contributions will be donated to local area food banks.

 

Saturday, October 21, 2017 is Bobcat Pride Day. Again, put on your OHIO attire and post to social media using the celebration’s hashtags.  The Bobcat football team hosts Kent State Golden Flashes at Peden stadium in a MAC battle, kickoff time TBA.  Regional campus students gain free admission to all OHIO home football games with a valid OHIO student ID card.

 

Dr. Nellis was formally elected the 21st president of Ohio University during a February 22 Board of Trustees meeting and officially began on June 12. The former Texas Tech University and University of Idaho president replaced Dr. Roderick J. McDavis, who left the position on February 17.
