2019 News Andrew West Point
February 11, 2019 : Andrew Dombrowski accepted into West Point

Andrew Dombrowski, a College Credit Plus student taking courses at Ohio University Chillicothe, has been accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The academy serves to train and educate cadets to prepare them for service as a United States Army officer.

In order to be accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Dombrowski had to go through an extensive application process. First, he had to receive a nomination from a senator or congressman stating he would be a good candidate for the program. In order to receive this nomination, Dombrowski shared that he had to complete four rounds of interviews. Beyond these interviews, he also had to complete an online application, physical assessment, and a medical qualification assessment.

Dombrowski has been an active student outside the classroom during his time at OHIO Chillicothe. He has served as a math tutor in the campus Student Success Center, and he has also worked with the theater program while on campus, serving as an assistant in a past production.

When asked what drew him to the academy, Dombrowski addressed his older brothers as a main source of inspiration. “One of my brothers attended the Air Force Academy, and the other also attended West Point. Seeing them serve made me realize it would be awesome to serve my country while getting my degree.”

Dombrowski also discussed his feelings upon receiving his acceptance. “I was really excited! I did not expect to hear back so soon, as most applicants do not hear back until March. Hearing of my acceptance removed a lot of worry about where I was going for college, so that was a relief.”

Dombrowski wishes to enter the medical program at West Point, continue on to medical school upon graduation, and serve as a doctor in the military.

Congratulations, Andrew!
