2019 News College Credit Plus
August 06, 2019 : New students share benefits of College Credit Plus program

On Monday, July 8th and Friday, July 19th Ohio University Chillicothe hosted fall semester orientation, advising and registration sessions for incoming College Credit Plus (CC+) students. Orientation has always been an important part of any student’s transition to college and orientation sessions help prepare students and parents for their upcoming college experience.
Attendees received a welcome from the Dean in the auditorium as well as general campus and program information from the Recruiting Coordinator, Beth Barnes and Director of Student Services, Dr. John Fisher. The information covered topics such academic advising, financial aid, relationships with faculty and staff, syllabus content, textbook purchases, and other campus support systems.

Following introductions, students met their staff advisors to develop a class schedule. After developing a schedule, students enrolled in their classes in the online student center while staff answered questions related to OHIO Chillicothe.
Three new students who attended the July 8 orientation shared their stories with us.
The first student is Erica Dale, an upcoming senior at Logan Elm High School who will be participating in track, cross country, and golf this year. She chose OHIO Chillicothe because of the many different course offerings available to her at the college level. Dale has an older brother and sister who attended OHIO Chillicothe for CC+.  She plans to major in biomedical engineering.

Next is Evan Valentine, also an upcoming senior at Logan Elm High School. He will be playing football. Like many of our other students, Valentine selected OHIO Chillicothe because of the opportunity to get a head start on his college career. While still undecided on his major, he is leaning towards political science.

Lastly, Tabetha Rawlins is an upcoming junior at Unioto High School. She is very active at the school participating in numerous student activities as well as running cross country. Rawlins was drawn to OHIO Chillicothe because she also wanted to get a jumpstart on her college career. She plans to major in nursing so taking CC+ classes should help her move into the nursing program more quickly. She would also like to become a nurse practitioner.
These students are sharing an opportunity to get an early start on their college career. If you are interested in getting an early start call Beth Barnes at 740.774.7755.
