CAMPUS WIDE CLASS CANCELATION
AND ANNOUNCEMENT PROCEDURES
When classes are canceled campus-wide in Chillicothe due to severe winter weather or other exceptional situations, an official announcement will be posted on the OUC homepage as well as listed under the "Alert Information" quick link under "Campus News" on the campus homepage. These alerts and announcements will list any particular classes that have been canceled; will also be recorded on the OUC phone message system (call 740.774.7272), and texted to registered OHIO accounts as quickly as the circumstances allow.
To register your OHIO account, and receive the notifications, you need to make sure your contact information is entered correctly with Ohio University. By updating your information, you will ensure that you receive important information on critical incidents and campus emergencies that can affect your safety and welfare. Announcement from Ohio University - Chillicothe will specify the following information:
➢ Date of cancelation
➢ Part of the day - two-hour delay, morning, afternoon, evening or all day
➢ Location - Chillicothe
A two-hour delay will mean classes that start before 10:00 a.m. are canceled. When classes have not been canceled campus-wide, the quick link on the on the campus homepage, as well as under "Campus News" with the title "Class Cancelations" will list any particular classes that have been canceled.
Winter weather announcements will generally be made by 6:30 a.m. for morning classes (starting before noon) and two-hour delays, 10:30 a.m. for afternoon classes (starting from noon to 5:00 p.m.) and 3:30 p.m. for evening classes (starting after 5:00 p.m.).
Special events are also automatically canceled during campus-wide cancelations or closings.
The media venues listed below will also be asked to announce campus-wide class cancelation information. The correctness of their broadcasts cannot be guaranteed and should be double-checked against the Ohio Chillicothe homepage and/or the campus phone message system when possible.

Since road conditions may vary substantially around the area, students should use their own judgment about the commute when their classes are not canceled. Student safety is always our first concern. Missed class work must be made up in consultation with the professor. Consulting with your professor before your absence is highly recommended.
INDIVIDUAL CLASS CANCELATION
On occasion, a professor may be unable to conduct a class due to professional travel, illness or unexpected personal reasons. Upon such notification, the Associate Dean’s Office posts an official cancelation on the campus homepage quick link, as well as under "Campus News" with the title "Class Cancelations" Any particular classes that have been canceled will be listed. Students enrolled in canceled classes are advised to check OHIO email and Blackboard for any special instructions from the professor.
Individual class cancelations will no longer be announced in the campus phone messaging system. Students who cannot access the web at home are advised to ask a friend in class for a phone call when their mutual class is canceled.
