Courses Offered On Our Campus

In addition to the degrees available at Ohio University - Chillicothe, students may also take courses spanning many disciplines. Completion of these courses can count towards degree requirements in programs offered on the OUC campus, the main Athens campus, or if a student decides to transfer to another college/university to complete their degree. For example, students may pursue social science courses in political science, anthropology, economics, geography, history, psychology or sociology. Languages can also be pursued including sign language, Spanish and French.

Courses in the physical sciences can also be studied at OUC, including chemistry, biology, physics, and physical science. These courses lay a foundation for students interested in moving into potential careers in health care such as physical therapy, nursing, or veterinary medicine.

The arts and humanities also invite students into studying literature, art, art history, philosophy, or theater. By learning within these areas, students will develop skills and abilities in writing, art-making, public speaking, and acting that enrich both individually and for future careers.

Other courses serve the whole student as well, such as physical education or recreation courses that promote fitness and wellness. Imagine a range of possibilities from running to golf to yoga.

General Education Requirements:

Courses available at OUC can help students to complete their general education requirements. Within OU, all students are required to take several types of general education courses including English composition, quantitative skills, applied science and math, cross-cultural studies, the fine arts, humanities and literature, the natural sciences, the social sciences and synthesis courses that integrate and round out a student’s education. By taking general education requirements, students may be able to determine the best fit between their personal interests and professional options. OUC offers courses in all general education areas.

Students may also wish to pursue courses as electives out of personal interest. By taking the time to talk to your advisor, choices over electives may enable a student to deepen and broaden a career path or a set of skills and abilities. Electives may also allow students to pursue individual interests that will carry throughout a lifetime.

University College Courses (UC):

OUC also provides courses to enable a student’s success. Our student services office can help you to determine your college readiness and then recommend courses leading to success in college reading, study skills, academic computing, and career development. Our UC courses help students make a successful transition into college both academically and personally. We want you to succeed!
