ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN

OHIO UNIVERSITY - CHILLICOTHE

Today’s higher education environment is characterized by change. Ohio University - Chillicothe (OUC) faces increased competition in its service area and greater demands for accountability by students, employers, and government. Additionally, the rising costs of education, demands of the global economy, and an aging population means that OUC must employ an entrepreneurial and flexible approach to anticipate and respond to change.

Accordingly, Ohio University - Chillicothe has developed a strategic enrollment management plan to maintain student enrollment through both recruiting and retention. The guidance developed in this document rests upon analysis of a multi-county region serviced by the regional campus in Chillicothe. Strategic enrollment management seeks to align institutional recruiting, enrollment, retention, and revenue goals to meet the needs of students and to maintain the institution’s sound financial footing.

As the state funding model changes to place more emphasis on course and degree completion, as Responsibility-Centered Management (RCM) budgeting is implemented, as competition increases, and as the number of available high school graduates declines, a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan (SEMP) based on broad campus input and support is essential. By linking a strategic enrollment management to the college’s strategic and personnel plans, OUC will be able to promote institutional growth and stability.
