Design Studio for Online and Blended Courses

The Office of Instructional Innovation (OII) offers the Design Studio for Online and Blended Courses to help faculty create more effective online learning environments.

This three-phase process will include one intensive workshop, individual consultative sessions, and self-paced “á la carte” modules.

• Initial session—a three-hour, intensive workshop.
• Consultative sessions—planned individual consultation sessions (two to three meetings)
• Self-paced “á la carte” modules—covering various topics of interest that can be joined on a drop-in basis

This multi-step studio includes information about course design, interactive tools, and multimedia design techniques that can be incorporated into both blended and online courses.

By the end of the process, attendees are able to apply effective design techniques to create a course that focuses on alignment to their course goals, use interactive tools to facilitate discussions and foster a sense of community, and find and develop multimedia that enhance their students’ learning experiences.
