Dr. Patrick O’Connor

Sam Gutherz is interested in the interactions between pulmonary tissue and the skeleton in extant avians. By studying the development of postcranial pneumaticity in various groups of living birds, he hopes to address questions regarding the evolution of the respiratory system in a range of archosaurs.

His other research interest include studying ontogenetic changes in theropod dinosaurs. Past research has included neurobiological research in rat models and field work in North Dakota and Montana.
