Resources for Finding a Public Affairs Internship

A number of resources are available to help Political Science students find an internship that advances their academic and professional goals.

Political Science Department Resources

The Public Affairs Internship Bulletin Board, located in the Political Science Department on the second floor of Bentley Annex, has information on organizations currently interested in interns and is a great place to start a search.

  • The department maintains a database of local organizations that have previously sponsored Ohio University Public Affairs Interns and/or are interested in future interns.

Career & Leadership Development Center Resources

  • The Career & Leadership Development Center provides assistance in identifying internship and career opportunities. The center offers services and resources that empower students and alumni to take action in their careers, develop essential leadership skills for the global workforce, and fulfill their promise.
  • Bobcat CareerLink is student's key resource in finding information on jobs, employers, workshops and events.

Internet Resources

There are a number of online sites that have information on finding and applying for internships.

  • Internships.com has internships in government including Congressional, Federal, Political Science, and Public Policy.
  • Usajobs.gov provides information on federal internships for undergraduate or graduate students.
  • The Vault has information on internship rankings, advice on finding internships, cover letter and resume assistance, and career guides.
  • Idealist.org has a searchable database of internship positions for more than 57,000 non-profit and community organizations.
