AGC International and Online Programs

The Academic and Global Communication Program offers teacher training in many areas.

English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI)

The English as the Medium of Instruction Teacher Training Program supports content-area professors as they re-develop their courses to be taught in English—English as the medium of instruction (EMI). By the end of this training, each content professor will develop an understanding of the needs of students as they learn content in English and also re-design a course with English as the medium of instruction. This redesign can include course materials, delivery, and assessment in English, as well as strategies to use technology in the classroom.

English for Specific Purposes (ESP)

The English for Specific Purposes Teacher Training Program prepares teachers to specialized English courses, such as English for business, English for law enforcement, or English for tourism. By the end of this training, instructors will have the skills they need to design courses and materials for specific language learning needs in all skill areas.

Teacher training projects are customizable in content, scope, length of program, and delivery. AGC can hold training workshops at partner institutions, on the beautiful Ohio University campus, online, or a combination of in-person and online.
