Curriculum and Graduation Requirements for MFE

Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 43 credit hours will be required to complete the program. To complete the program, participants will complete a research project or an internship with a financial company in the United States or in their home country, or they can write a financial report.

  • Portfolio Theory¬†(MFE 6230)
  • Managerial Accounting (MFE 6100)
  • Fixed Income Analysis (MFE 6500)
  • Financial Statement Analysis (MFE 6110)
  • Derivatives in Financial Economics (MFE 6440)
  • Econometrics and Time Series Analysis (MFE 6390)
  • Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice (MFE 6944)

Capstone course:

  • Financial Report (MFE 6945) or Internship (MFE 6910)

Athens Campus: The MFE is structured so that all academic requirements can be completed in 12 months, beginning in the Fall and finishing at the end of Summer semester of the following year. At the end of the program, participants will complete an internship (4 credit hours) for further hands-on experience or will write a research paper (4 credit hours) under the supervision of a faculty, or they will write a financial report (2 credit hours).

National Economics University in Hanoi, Vietnam 1+1: The program is structured so that all academic requirements can be completed in two years. Six courses will be taken in Vietnam and taught by professors from the National Economics University. The remaining seven courses will be taught by faculty members at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. To complete the program, participants will complete a research project or an internship with a financial company in the United States or in their home country, or they will write a financial report.

Shandong University of Finance and Economics 1+1: The program is structured so that all academic requirements can be completed in four semesters (including summer). Three MFE courses will be taken at SDUFE taught by professors from SDUFE. The remaining courses will be taught by faculty members at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. To complete the program, participants will complete research project or an internship with a financial company in the United States or in their home country, or they will write a financial report.

University of Johannesburg 1+1: The program is structured so that all academic requirements can be completed in four semesters (including summer). Three MFE courses will be taken at UJ taught by professors from UJ. The remaining courses will be taught by faculty members at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. To complete the program, participants will complete research project or an internship with a financial company in the United States or in their home country, or they will write a financial report.
