Fat is present in many places in our bodies, implying the broad influence of fat on the systemic metabolism. Although fat can generally be categorized into two subgroups: subcutaneous and visceral fat, recent research has found subpopulations in fat tissue according to the interactions with the local environment.

My research area focuses on identifying the functional properties of one of these subpopulations in fat tissue, Wilms' tumor 1 (Wt1). The main goal is to understand how Wt1 subpopulation affects diabetes or vice versa in an attempt to develop a more cell-targeted therapy for metabolic disorders.
