Nukhet Sandal is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ohio University and Director of the War & Peace Studies Program in OHIO's Center for International Studies.

About Dr. Sandal

Nukhet Sandal earned her Ph.D. in Politics and International Relations from University of Southern California in 2010 and she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Watson Institute of International Studies at Brown University between 2010-13. She has published articles in the European Journal of International Relations, International Politics, Review of International Studies, Alternatives, Political Studies, West European Politics, Human Rights Quarterly, and Canadian Journal of Political Science.

Dr. Sandal's article, “Religious Actors as Epistemic Communities in Conflict Transformation: The Cases of Northern Ireland and South Africa” was awarded the “Best 2011 Article in Review of International Studies” by BISA/Cambridge University Press.  Her book (with Jonathan Fox), Religion in International Relations Theory: Interactions and Possibilities came out in 2013 from Routledge, and her second book, Religious Leaders in Conflict Transformation, is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press in 2017.

Dr. Sandal is the Chair of both the Ethnicity, Nationalism and Migration Section and the Religion and International Relations Section of the International Studies Association.

Dr. Sandal is the recipient of the 2016 Jeanette G. Grasselli Brown Faculty Teaching Award.
