Quick Bio

What is your hometown?
I was born in Columbus, Ohio, and moved around a lot growing up. I lived in Gahanna, Nashport, Heath, and Madison, Ohio, and went to Tri-Valley schools in Dresden, Ohio.

When did you start your college search?
I always knew I wanted to go to college, but I did not think much about it until the fall of my senior year of high school. I was not serious about my search until applications were almost due, mostly because I had not yet figured out what I wanted to study until very late in the game.

How did you find Ohio University?
My parents met at OHIO and many family members are alumni, so OHIO has always had a place close to my heart. I was originally of the opinion that choosing OHIO would be the "easy option" and super cliché, yet I still decided to seriously consider it and explore my own options. Thankfully, my parents really took a step back and remained as objective as possible, which allowed me the freedom to do so.

What do you remember from your college visit?
I attended OHIO Up Close in mid-February where I immersed myself in the on-campus, student experience. My favorite thing about the visit was listening to Jen Murphy and Paul Benedict (College of Business faculty) speak about the business program and student life at OU. It was very energizing and exciting, and it was the first time that I was fully able to picture myself studying, working, and living in this place that I knew would truly help me to succeed. So to be cliché, I felt right at home.

Why did you choose Ohio University?
The OHIO Up Close experience was extremely pivotal for me. It was the last college visit on my list, so I was able to critically compare my top schools, of which OHIO stood out among the rest. Unlike the other schools, I immediately felt like the faculty and staff at OHIO truly cared about their students as individuals, and there were opportunities and experiences offered here that I would not be able to get anywhere else.

What are you studying? How did you come to that?
I am majoring in Management Information Systems and Business Analytics, with a minor in computer science and a Sales Certificate.

I did not know what I wanted to study until a few months before I started my freshman year. I originally wanted to pursue a major in computer science, but I quickly realized I wanted to be more involved in the collaborative, business side of technology. I had read an article on "Big Data" and how it was a "hot topic" of the business world. I saw how my passions for technology and people could be combined into one, when I then found business analytics at OHIO.

Reflect on your Cluster experience.
I was able to take Cluster during the fall semester of my sophomore year. I am very thankful that I was able to complete it early on in my college career because it left me the time and space to focus on my major classes. Overall, Cluster has prepared me to work in a professional setting in so many ways: conducting and finding reliable research, creating professional reports and presentations, and navigating effective communication in a team setting. I am thankful for my cluster experience, and I believe that any business student can find the benefits in it as well.

How else are you involved on campus?
I am involved in a number of ways on campus. Outside of being a Student Ambassador, I am also a learning community leader, and am a member of the Schey Sales Centre, Women in Business, ISAP, and Colleges Against Cancer.

What do you want to do after graduation?
I will be graduating in May 2022. As of right now, I am not sure what my plans will be after graduation. However my path plays out, I am confident that my development and experience in the College of Business has prepared me to be successful in my professional career.

Favorite campus landmark? Place to study? Place to eat? Coffee?
My first year at OHIO, I practically lived in the library. The fourth floor is a great space to be motivated to get work done because you are surrounded by other students doing the same. The seventh floor is my favorite. At the end of the floor, you'll find a nice view of campus, a quiet space to study, and some fun spinning chairs!

Aside from studying, I encourage anyone to visit Donkey Coffee. It is a fun place to go with friends on a chill night. Some week nights they'll have open mics or acoustic nights, so you can get your music fill in too, which is always a nice brain break.

Personality Questions

If you could live in any sitcom, which one would it be and why?
New Girl. As some have a strong love for The Office or Friends, New Girl is, and always will be, my favorite sitcom. Jess and Nick are my favorite duo of all time, Winston is my spirit animal, and Tran is the personal therapist everyone should have in their lives.

If you can instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Coding. If I could wake up tomorrow and be an expert coder, all of my dreams would have come true. I love learning these skills in school, but it takes quite a bit of time and commitment to be fluent in the language of computers, and then to apply it to the broader scope of data, programming, and information systems.

If you could visit any place in the world where would it be and why?
As I am answering this now, the world is still feeling the effects of COVID-19. The summer of 2020, I was supposed to join a study abroad group (GCP) to Athens, Greece. Since summer travels were cancelled, we were not able to visit this incredibly beautiful city. Because of this, Greece is the top destination on my list and will be the first place I go once it is safe to do so.

Favorite season and why?
Either early spring, because of everything coming alive and blooming again, or the beginning of fall, because SWEATER WEATHER! :) In either case, campus looks the most beautiful.

Favorite music artist?
Jon Bellion. He is widely known for his songs like "All Time Low” and is a musical genius and the best live performer of all time. My music tastes are constantly evolving, so in this time and place, some honorary mentions are, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jacob Collier, Vulfpeck, John Mayer, Amanda Marshall, and Post Malone. A weird array - I know - but these bands/artists will not disappoint.

What are your hobbies?
Reading, hammocking, watching New Girl, discovering new music, and playing board games with friends.
