What is your hometown?

Dayton, Ohio

When did you start your college search?

My junior year of high school

How did you find Ohio University?

I had some friends that attended Ohio University, and it was a popular choice at my high school.

What do you remember from your college visit?

I remember seeing lots of squirrels, hammocks, and picnics on the greens!

Why did you choose Ohio University?

The student atmosphere. From being on campus, I could immediately tell Bobcats looked out for one another, and every student was so proud to belong to Ohio University. I wanted a college experience where I could be myself and share the memories with students who hold the same values as I do.

The College of Business and Athens

What are you studying? How did you come to that?

Finance and Accounting. I came into college as a business undecided major because I was not sure what I wanted to do yet I knew my personality type was a good fit for business. Within my first year, I fell in love with the numerical and “behind the scenes” work of business in my first accounting (1010) class and finance class (3000).

Reflect on your Cluster experience.

Cluster was one of the most challenging yet most beneficial experiences I have had at OHIO thus far. I felt as if I was working for an actual company and not taking a semester course. In Cluster, I had the opportunity to work in a team, develop leadership skills, plan, and use feedback from my senior partners to increase the quality of my work. I had a team member who currently resided in India, so the team always planned far in advance on when to schedule meetings because of the time difference. Cluster also gives students the opportunity to use their creativity and design a new business model. My team and I created budgets, staffing needs, costs, products, marketing strategies, and so much more! I feel as if my cluster experience helped me grow personally and professionally, and I am so thankful for all the resources Ohio University has to offer!

How else are you involved on campus?

I am the Vice President of Operations in Pi Beta Phi sorority, an active member of the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, and a campus tour guide!

What is your graduation year? What do you want to do after graduation?

2023, I plan on getting my Master of Accounting and becoming a CPA. I'm hoping to work in a big city!!

Share about your advisor? Your Career Coach?

My advisor is Jen Washko. I meet with her every semester to discuss classes, and just life in general! When I first met with her, I expected a quick conversation regarding scheduling. Instead, Mrs. Washko talked to me about my day and some fun things that happen around campus. She has gone out of her way to find jobs and other campus resources for me! 10/10 advisor and person!

What’s a classroom lesson that has stuck with you?

How to effectively be a leader. My management professor, Dr. Brown, discussed the different types of leadership and how people shouldn’t have to follow you but want to follow you.

Favorite campus landmark? Place to study? Place to eat? Coffee?

The East Green staircase leading up to Bryan Hall is my favorite landmark. I love to study on the 7th floor of Alden where I can see all of campus. The best places to eat are Ginger and Bagel street, and I love Donkey Coffee (get their power chai!!!).

What is your favorite thing about Athens, Ohio?

The people!! Athens is a place where if you smile at someone on the street, they smile back.
